About this indicator

SourceINDEC
FrequencyMensual
Release Aproximadamente entre uno y dos meses después del cierre del trimestre de referencia (avance y dato definitivo).
What it isAnnual Gross Domestic Product measures the value of all goods and services produced in Argentina over the year. Compiled by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC), it is the broadest gauge of the size and pace of growth of the Argentine economy.
How it's calculatedINDEC estimates GDP in volume terms (constant prices), aggregating the value added of all sectors. The annual figure is obtained by consolidating the quarterly data, with growth expressed as a change from the previous year.
Market implicationsIt is the main benchmark for assessing an economy marked by sharp boom-bust cycles, high inflation and recurrent currency crises. The figure shapes the relationship with the IMF, debt sustainability and market confidence in the peso.
LimitationsIt is released with a lag and the estimates are later revised. High inflation and past methodological changes complicate comparison over time, and the figure can differ from perceived activity given the weight of the informal economy.
