Release
Published annually, covering the full year and subject to revision.
What it is
GDP measures the value of all final goods and services produced in Armenia and is the broadest gauge of the size and growth of its economy. It is published by the Statistical Committee of Armenia (Armstat).
How it's calculated
Estimated by reconciling the output, expenditure and income approaches, in real terms. Annual GDP growth is released alongside higher-frequency economic activity indicators.
Market implications
It is the benchmark for Armenia's cycle, a small economy sensitive to remittances, trade with Russia and commodities. Solid growth supports the dram and gives the central bank room, while a slowdown tilts policy towards stimulus.
Limitations
It is released with a lag and early figures are revised, so they are not final. In a small, externally dependent economy, remittances and migration flows can cause abrupt swings that are hard to interpret.
