GDP (annual) in Bolivia

Annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) measures the value of all final goods and services produced in Bolivia over a year. It is the broadest gauge of its economy, published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).

It is estimated from the expenditure, output and income sides following international standards. It is released in real terms (at constant prices), with the usual reading being the year-on-year (YoY) change in GDP, where mining and hydrocarbons carry significant weight.

It is the reference for assessing Bolivia's cycle and affects employment, tax revenue and expectations. Weak growth strains public finances and reserves, and shapes the policy of the Central Bank of Bolivia and the sustainability of the exchange rate.

It is released with a marked lag and subject to revisions, so the first reading is not final. It depends heavily on sectors such as gas and mining, highly sensitive to international prices, while high informality makes capturing real activity difficult.
