What it is
Exports are the outputs destined for another country or Colombian EPZ goods which have been free circulation or restricted in the Colombian customs territory. These are valued FOB (by its original acronym Free On Board, which means free on board) because they include all the costs of transporting the goods to the customs frontier, export duties and the cost of loading the goods in the means of transport used.
How it's calculated
They are calculated based on export declarations submitted to the various customs administrations of the country, which are recorded statistically when Customs has made closing statement exportaciónn and not the date of shipment of the same, except for exports oil and derivatives, which are recorded by other shipment date. The calculation method is reviewed periodically and, since January 2013, statistics are aggregated into four main groups: Agriculture, food and beverages; Fuels and extractive industries; Manufacturing and other sectors.
Market implications
It is essential to have regular statistics that reflect the evolution and behavior of these activities at the national level, taking into account its share of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), employment generation and volume of goods and services that circulate in these channels.
Limitations
As a statistic will be subject to revision.
