What it is
The trade balance is defined as the difference between total exports minus total imports carried out in the country. This difference could be positive, negative (trade deficit) (what is called trade surplus) or.
How it's calculated
It is calculated as the difference between inflows and output produced by the trade relations between residents in Colombia and the rest of the world. That is, the difference between exports and imports.
Market implications
It may be indicative of the competitiveness of economic agents in the country compared to other countries, ie the relationship between price levels in each other countries. It is important to surplus, because this way more resources entering the country through the profits generated by exports to emerging resources for payment of imports. This means that domestic producers and the economy in general have greater resources for their activities and develop new ones and thus encourage and develop the national economy.
Limitations
As with most economic data provided, the figures are known by almost two months late and also with the release of new data are reviewed those published in the previous period.
