About this indicator

FrequencyMensual
Release En torno a uno o dos meses después del periodo de referencia.
What it isThe trade balance records the value of goods traded between the Czech Republic and the rest of the world over a period, measured as the difference between exports and imports. It reflects the country's external trade activity.
How it's calculatedThe Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ) derives it as the difference between the value of exports and imports recorded in external trade statistics, in Czech koruna. A positive balance is a surplus, a negative one a deficit.
Market implicationsThe external balance is a component of GDP and a signal of the competitiveness of a highly open economy embedded in European industrial supply chains, notably the car industry. A solid surplus supports the Czech koruna (CZK).
LimitationsThe figures are not final: each release tends to revise earlier periods and the data come with a lag. They are sensitive to imported energy prices and to the car-industry cycle.
