What it is
Measures the total number of inhabitants of Egypt and how it changes over time. It is a structural indicator used as the base for ratios such as GDP per capita, population density and per-head rates.
How it's calculated
The figure is compiled by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) from population censuses, updated between censuses with births, deaths and net migration. It is usually released as an annual figure referring to a set reference date.

Demographic trends shape the economy's potential growth, labour supply, consumption and spending on pensions and healthcare. Limitations
