What it is
It is a survey that provides information not only about consumer confidence, but also the sentiment index and the sectors of construction, industry, retail and services. an index for each of the Eurozone countries, another for the Eurozone in general and one for all countries of the European Union is calculated.
How it's calculated
It is based on a survey of consumers. From this information confidence indices are produced.
Market implications
To assess the consumer perception on the situation of the eurozone economy and anticipate spending / investment thereof without waiting for the much later publication of these data. Therefore they can be considered leading indicators of economic cycles in the Eurozone. In addition, information is included about the utilization of production capacity.
Limitations
It was later published confidence indices of each of the member countries, which generally do not contain new information.
