What it is	Industrial Production represents the added value of resident companies at factor cost and constant prices, excluding the construction sector. Therefore, it is an indicator of economic activity, and strongly related to the situation of the cycle in which it is located.
How it's calculated	The harmonized index for the entire Eurozone is calculated from the series already set the number of days worked that offer each of the member countries. Subsequently, the Eurostat calculates the final index. In some cases, such as Denmark, it is the official body of the country who draws it up.
Market implications	The analysis of this sector indicator lets see what drives the economy or what the delay and anticipate the evolution of the economy in general. For example, the growth of the steel sector is a fact that anticipated expansion.
Limitations	For proper comparison between the indices of the countries, should take into account variations between types and qualities of products and raw materials. It also must be distinguished, as established by Eurostat, the Stocks of Finished Goods and which are ongoing. Moreover must include very different kinds services that are required to achieve a given level of production.
