What it is	The preliminary Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the German federal state of Brandenburg, published by its regional statistical office. It is a flash estimate released a few hours ahead of the national German CPI for the same month and helps anticipate that result.
How it's calculated	A price survey of a basket of goods and services representative of the state, using the same methodology as the national German CPI but limited to prices observed within Brandenburg. The year-on-year and month-on-month changes are published.
Market implications	It serves as a preview of the national German CPI released the same day a few hours later: several large states printing in line with expectations reduces the surprise from the national figure for markets and for the ECB's read on euro-area inflation.
Limitations	It covers only the federal state, not all of Germany, so its signal is partial. The figure is preliminary (vorläufig) and may be revised in the final release a few days later.
