What it is	Measures changes in prices received by producers, Industrial Products manufactured and sold in the interior, excluding all transportation costs, marketing, taxes ... etc.
How it's calculated	A survey is made to a group of establishments on the prices of a number of products. Subsequently an index has a baseline year, so that the difference between the rate of a year and the index in the base (100) year, represents the rate of change from the base year is calculated.
Market implications	As a measure of price developments, serves as a deflator of other economic series, such as industrial production. It is also used as a reference in some contracts, like the CPI in salary reviews. Also, changes in the prices of the Industrial Production can anticipate changes in inflationary pressures.
Limitations	Severely it affected by the number of working days and holidays, so to analyze the underlying trend must be corrected for the effects of seasonality and calendar.
