What it is	The Consumer Price Index is a measure of the evolution of prices paid by consumers obtained through the study of a basket of goods and services.
How it's calculated	a survey of establishments on the prices of certain products is performed. Subsequently, the index using one of Laspeyres, which allows adding the different prices of the products tested is made. Each of the products or items studied has a certain specific weight.
Market implications	It is one of the best indicators of inflation. Therefore it provides a detailed information on developments in the general level of prices in the country.
Limitations	The Index of Consumer Prices, although measures the change in prices, it does so only goods and services that make up a given basket of goods and services used to calculate them so that does not include changes in the prices of all the bienen and services that make up GDP.
