Annual
Release
Published annually, covering the full year and subject to revision.
What it is
GDP measures the value of all final goods and services produced in Côte d'Ivoire and is the broadest gauge of the size and growth of its economy. It is published by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
How it's calculated
Estimated by reconciling the output, expenditure and income approaches in real terms. Annual GDP growth is released, within the West African CFA franc zone.
Market implications
It is the benchmark for the Ivorian cycle, the largest WAEMU economy and the world's top cocoa producer. Strong growth underpins regional stability and the euro-pegged CFA franc, whose policy is run by the BCEAO.
Limitations
It is released with a lag and revisions, so early figures are not final. Reliance on agricultural commodities, sensitive to prices and weather, and a large informal sector complicate measurement.
