What it is
Measures the total population of Kenya and how it evolves over time. It is compiled by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and is a structural indicator underpinning ratios such as GDP per capita and population density.
How it's calculated
The figure comes from the population and housing census and from intercensal projections updated with births, deaths and net migration. It is reported as the population at an annual reference date.

Limitations
It is a low-frequency figure, and intercensal projections carry high uncertainty, subject to revision with each new census and with uneven civil-registration coverage.
