About this indicator

Statistics Netherlands
Frequency
Monthly
Release
Roughly one to two months after the reference quarter closes (advance estimate and final figure).
What it is
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) measures the value of all final goods and services produced in the Netherlands over a given period. Published by Statistics Netherlands (CBS), it is the broadest gauge of the size and pace of growth of the Dutch economy.
How it's calculated
Estimated via the expenditure, output and income approaches, which must reconcile. CBS publishes a flash estimate and a detailed release, in quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) and year-on-year (YoY) terms on seasonally adjusted data.
Market implications
The main reference for gauging the health and cycle of the Dutch economy. As a euro area member, its path feeds into the ECB's reading of regional conditions and affects growth expectations across the bloc.
Limitations
Released several weeks after the quarter it covers, and the flash estimate is revised in later releases, so the first reading is not final.
