Release	Aproximadamente un mes después del periodo de referencia.
What it is	Measures the change in factory-gate prices of industrial goods made and sold in the Netherlands, excluding transport, distribution and taxes. Published by Statistics Netherlands (CBS), it covers energy, mining and manufacturing, but not construction.
How it's calculated	A producer price index compiled by CBS from a survey of industrial establishments' selling prices, with a fixed base year (index 100). The methodology is harmonised at EU level, allowing comparisons across the bloc.
Market implications	It is a leading indicator of inflationary pressure, since higher production costs tend to feed through to consumer prices with a lag. A high reading points to more future inflation, a signal watched in the context of ECB policy.
Limitations	To read the underlying trend it is best to strip out energy, the most volatile component. The data can be revised in later releases and the pass-through to consumer prices is incomplete and uneven.
