About this indicator

SourceStatistics Norway (SSB) - Labour Force Survey (AKU)
FrequencyMensual
Release Aproximadamente un mes despues del periodo de referencia.
What it isUnemployment rate calculated on the ILO definition from Statistics Norway's Labour Force Survey (Arbeidskraftundersøkelsen, AKU): the share of people without work, available to work and actively seeking a job, in the total labour force. It follows a harmonised standard that allows international comparison.
How it's calculatedIt is obtained from a household sample survey (AKU), applying ILO criteria to classify a person as employed, unemployed or inactive, regardless of whether they are registered with the NAV employment offices.
Market implicationsIt is the internationally comparable unemployment measure used by Eurostat and the OECD, but in Norway the market and FXStreet track the NAV REGISTERED count more closely (see the Unemployment Rate page), which is timelier and has a smaller sampling error, though the picture still guides Norges Bank on labour-market slack.
LimitationsWith a small population, the AKU sample is limited, giving it more volatility and a wider margin of error than the NAV administrative register. It is subject to revision and tends to differ from the registered unemployment figure.
