The Consumer Price Index is an indicator that measures the evolution, over time, of a set of goods and services that are considered as representative of a certain consumption structure in the geographical space of one or more socioeconomic strata.

Price Index Consumer Goods and Services is calculated based on the results of the survey of prices of consumer goods and services in the retail market and survey of household budgets providing data the average expenditure on consumer goods and services. It is one of the best indicators of inflation. Therefore it provides a detailed information on developments in the general level of prices in the country.

The Index of Consumer Prices, although measures the change in prices, it does so only goods and services that make up a given basket of goods and services used to calculate them so that does not include changes in the prices of all goods and services that make up GDP.
