GDP (annual) in Serbia

Annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) measures the value of all final goods and services produced in Serbia over a year. Published by the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (SORS), it is the broadest gauge of the size and pace of growth of the Serbian economy.

It is compiled using the output, expenditure and income approaches, which should agree, following the European ESA 2010 methodology. Reported in dinars at current and constant prices, with the real annual growth rate measured against the previous year.

It is the key reference for assessing the cycle of an EU-candidate economy. Strong growth supports employment, revenues and the convergence path; a weak reading, with activity tied to industry and foreign investment, shapes National Bank of Serbia policy and the dinar.

It is released with a lag and early estimates are revised. Agriculture and energy add seasonality, reliance on foreign investment adds volatility, and part of the informal economy is not fully captured.
