What it is	According to the INE, it is an indicator that measures the monthly development of productive activity of industrial branches, excluding construction contained in the National Classification of Economic Activities 1993 (CNAE-93). Measures therefore coevolution of quantity and quality, eliminating the influence of prices.
How it's calculated	For its calculation is first selected a basket of goods or products representative of the entire industry, and a panel of establishments that manufacture those goods (about 13200 establishments) so that they facilitate monthly productions that have made (according to the INE) .
Market implications	Production Index based 1990 was the result of the reform of the above, it was 1972 base year (the latter was a quarterly data, monthly advances, while 1990 was monthly). Changing the base year to 2000 has allowed analyze changes in the industry from 1990 to 2000.
Limitations	It is a fact that affects you very significantly the number of working days and holidays of the different autonomous communities, so to analyze its evolution, the calendar adjusted series should be used.
