What it isThe Central Bank implements monetary policy by changing interest rates which delivers and withdraws liquidity of the economy. These intervention rates are the instrument of monetary policy. Through them, the Bank affects the market interest rates.
How it's calculatedMonetary policy decisions are released after the meetings of the Board of the Bank of the Republic, which decides changes in the interest rate.
Market implicationsIt affects the amount of money circulating in the economy, since the minimum interest rate amending the Central Bank charges financial institutions for loans that makes them, or the maximum interest rate you pay for receive them money surplus.
LimitationsMonetary policy should be coordinated with fiscal policy for optimal results, but often there are differences.
