What it isThe Central Bank of Japan controls the volume of money and interest rates in order to have control over the exchange rate and currency. Monetary policy is decided at board meetings (MPM), where the lines are discussed to follow in open market operations and interest rates.
How it's calculatedThe committee members of the Central Bank issued a vote on the interest rate, relative to the increase, decrease or maintain it. The votes do not result in a tie since the committee is made up of nine members, including the governor and deputy governors included.
Market implicationsDecisions Moneraria policy generated a number of effects on interest rates of short-term, Exchange Rates, Types long, liquidity in the system and finally on a broad range of economic variables, such as employment, production or prices.
LimitationsMonetary policy should be coordinated with fiscal policy for optimal results, but often there are differences.
